Pembroke Ladies Guild of the RNLI are delighted to announce that almost £3,000 was raised at their 26th anniversary walk/run on Castlemartin Range in August this year. A unique venue courtesy of the British Army. Special thanks to Dan Gibson and Steve Sheehan with preparations before, on the day and after the event.
It is customary to entertain and reward our supporters on behalf of the RNLI at an awards evening in October each year. All possible at this lovely old hotel, The Old King’s Arms, Pembroke, courtesy of the proprietor and our vice-president, Mrs. Shirley Wheeler.
The photograph shows some very loyal and longstanding supporters who individually raised well in excess of £100 each. In fact two ladies, Sharon and Carolyn walked the eight-mile course, as they do each year. These ladies are sponsored by the owners of Kilgetty Pharmacy, their customers, family and friends. A huge thank you from Pembroke to Kilgetty.
There was huge commitment by each person. Tokens of the charity’s appreciation were presented by walk chair, Viv Kerrison and chair, Daphne Bush, courtesy of the RNLI.
The 100 people attending the event in August all helped Pembroke Guild to raise this fantastic sum for the RNLI. Significantly, many of them have been supporting the RNLI for all 26 years, priceless, raising over £110,000 for this one event during that time, what a record! Thank you.
A special acknowledgement of support was awarded on behalf of the RNLI headquarters at Poole, Dorset, to the general manager of the the Observer group of newspapers in Tenby, Andy Adamson. A very well-deserved award. Andy, together with all of his staff, chief reporter, Ceris Hewlings, reporter Paul Evans, editor, Neil Dickinson have given outstanding service to our publicity. Special thanks too from me as press officer.
The fundraising support of Pembrokeshire residents, volunteers and people visiting our county is vitally important to the RNLI. Your help maintains the first class, free 24/7 coastal, inland, flood rescue provided by our volunteer lifeboat crews, and much more. To learn more, go to rnli.org.
Thank you
D.B.
