Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild are pleased to announce the winners of their eighth annual fundraising quiz in aid of the RNLI. A cryptic quiz, entitled ‘What’s My Name.’
The amazing sum of over £950 now goes to the RNLI through Quiz sales and donations, thanks to your support and the annual sponsorship of RWE Generation, with no expense to the charity itself.
The prize money of £25 each, for the first two correct entries received, is also sponsored by RWE. The entries came from across the UK, the Channel Islands and Pembrokeshire.
The local winner was Mrs. Gill Lewis, of Begelly, photographed. The second winner was Mr. Robert Smith, of Lancaster, who unfortunately couldn’t attend the annual winners presentation.
The presentation is hosted each year in the RWE control room by Mair Lewis, RWE Generation, community relations abd business support.
Mrs. Lewis, having received her prize, decided to donate her £25 winners cheque to the RNLI. A huge thank you to you all.
The quiz is the brainchild of member Mrs. Cynthia Field who personally sponsored the quiz for its first two years. Cynthia now has supporters far and wide waiting for her quiz to appear on May 30 each year! Great news for you all - Cynthia has already devised the quiz topics and questions for 2018 and 2019!
Grateful thanks finally go to Guild members for quiz sales during the summer months. President Jennie McIntosh who designs the quiz leaflet for publication and assists honorary secretary Tamzin Lewis in the lengthy task of precisely marking the entries on the closing date.
To you, our loyal supporters, rest assured, the contribution made by you all to this quiz will buy a whole variety of equipment for our volunteer crews and rescue services, saving lives at risk on the water. Thank you so much on behalf of the Guild and the RNLI.
