Following the recent lifejacket clinic held by the RNLI team at Lydstep, there will be another such event at Saundersfoot Harbour on Saturday, May 22, from 11 am - 4 pm.

Tenby's lifeboat sea safety officer Andrew Lowe explained: "The lifejacket clinic we held earlier in the month at Lydstep was the best attended we've had at that location, with many local boaters coming along to learn about how they should check and look after their lifejackets.

"A lifejacket has a monthly, three-monthly and annual maintenance schedule. However, information on what to do is not always readily available and we find a lot of boaters are unaware of the requirements - at Lydstep we were able to provide some well received advice on what to look for and we also had a few visitors to our trailer who found that their lifejackets were well past their best and required some remedial action. As you might imagine, they were extremely relieved to discover this before they were needed in an emergency!"

All local boaters will be very welcome to attend the clinic - the RNLI trailer will be near Saundersfoot Sailing Club and the sea safety team will also be able to offer advice on distress flares, VHF radios and other safety equipment.

At 7 pm in the evening, the team will be running a lifejacket demonstration in Saundersfoot Sailing Club - this lighthearted presentation aims to bring home the importance of not just maintaing your lifejackets correctly, but also wearing them.
