Sir,
At a public meeting called by Pembroke Town Council, we were told that an agreement was soon to be signed between the county council and the preferred developers for the demolition and development of the town quay, with no regard for the unanimous opinion of the packed meeting that the quay and mill site should be left as it is for car parking, boat launching and the occasional use by the citizens for public events.
It is incomprehensible that a meeting held in secret should ride roughshod over public opinion. Shame on you PCC When private greed meets public need, corruption soon follows.
Pembroke lost its soul when the barrage was built and the river was no longer used for mooring boats, fishing and swimming. The dead hand of ignorance and prejudice rules.
Ian Campbell Rutger,
The Green,
Pembroke.
