A 52-year-old rider was taken to hospital after falling from his horse on Amroth beach shortly after 1 pm on Sunday.

Tenby and Manorbier Coastguard rescue teams, Pembs. sector manager, Dave Miller, and land and air ambulances were tasked to locate, stabilise and assist with the evacuation of the man, prior to his onward journey by air to Morriston Hospital, Swansea.

The man, who was from Neath, staying locally in Haverfordwest, was riding and trotting in a party of three horses. 

One animal was spooked and threw him off resulting in him sustaining pelvic and leg injuries.
