The use of the Coburg Garage site in Tenby's Upper Frog Street as a retail outlet has been questioned by a number of residents in the town, according to a local councillor. At Tuesday evening's meeting of the town council, Clr. Nicky Lloyd told fellow members that he had been approached by a number of residents, expressing their displeasure at the current use of the site. "A few residents have come to me over the last week unhappy with the current use of the Coburg Garage site and in particular the way they think it's devaluing the appearance of one of the town's most attractive streets," said Clr. Lloyd. The Coburg Garage site has for the past few weeks been used as a retail outlet selling items for a pound. "Some of the less colourful words residents have used to describe the outlet are 'cheap' and 'tacky'," added Clr. Lloyd. After speaking to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority on the subject, the town clerk revealed that the owner of the premises had submitted a retrospective application for change of use of the site, which was likely to come before the July meeting of the authority's development management committee. Councillors agreed to look into the legal status of the requirement for a 'change of use' application.
