The owners of Sparta House, overlooking Tenby Harbour, have defended their decision to apply for a residents parking scheme to be introduced on Crackwell Street and Bridge Street, following Tenby Town Council's refusal to back the request. The Sparta House Consortium had put forward a request to Pembrokeshire County Council for parking spaces to be created for the use of residents on the two streets. "We thought that it would be only fair for residents on the two streets to have the choice of having permitted parking spaces available if they wanted them," Mandy Vitols, of Sparta House, told the Observer. "But I would like to point out that the spaces created would not be exclusive to just residents of Sparta House, but open to other residents on the two streets to apply for permits. We have only suggested just the one space for use of residents in our own building," she continued. Tenby Town Council last week recommended refusal for the scheme stating that they 'didn't think it was an appropriate area to introduce the scheme, with the street being such a busy route,'. Members also felt that if they had approved the application, every holiday home in Tenby would push for their own residents permit scheme.
