Residents neighbouring Tenby's Three Mariners Inn have strongly objected to planning applications for a rooftop restaurant at the pub.
Tenby town councillors deferred the application at their last meeting to request the views of neighbours and nearby residents before submitting their recommendation to the Pembrokeshire National Park Authority.
Owners of the inn have put forward plans to convert the upper room into a restaurant with seven tables and also a games room, which would feature a big screen television and laser karaoke.
After the plans were put on display in the De Valence, the town council received several letters of objection, with some residents citing "loss of amenities, security, disruptive behaviour and noise pollution" as their main concerns.
At Tuesday night's meeting of the council, members took on board the letters of concern they had received, with Clr. Mrs. Kerry Durham being one of several councillors objecting to the proposals.
"I think it's out of character with the existing area and I don't think it would be fair on the nearby residents to have to endure such noise pollution; everyone has the right to a peaceful life," commented Clr. Mrs. Durham.
The council agreed to recommend refusal of the application, on the grounds that it would affect residents' privacy and be detrimental to their lifestyle.
