Following reports of an overdue diver in waters at Lydstep near Giltar slabs, Tenby's inshore lifeboat and all-weather lifeboat, the RFA Sir Galahad, along with the coastguard team were tasked to locate the missing person shortly after 3 pm on Tuesday afternoon. The diver who had drifted away from the craft he was aboard after surfacing, was located by the crew of Smit Penally on the rocks at Giltar Cliffs, after he had inflated a surface water buoy. The crew managed to attach a rope to the diver just as the ILB arrived, and pulled him into the water to enable a safe recovery onto Lydstep shore. "The diver's GPS had failed and as they had no radio on board their boat, it was an ill prepared way to go about diving," said a coastguard spokesperson.
