Pembrokeshire’s Greenacres Animal Rescue Centre has always been committed to the rescue and care of all animals, but cats contribute massivley to the overall number of animals they help annually.
Cats make up close to 50 per cent of their intake. They also actively promote responsible pet ownership, with neutering and microchipping being standard practice for all cats that are under their care.
“However, this year has seen a record number of cats and kittens needing our assistance and the ones needing medical help has risen too,” said Mikey Lawlor of the rescue centre. “This has highlighted that our facilities are in need of a revamp to be able to provide the service and care they deserve.”
As a result, a gofundme page has been launched to try and raise the money they need. If they do manage to raise this, they will be able to:
• develop and improve isolation facilities for poorly cats/kittens
• increase spaces for animals to recover after operations such as neutering.
• make cleaning of animal housing areas more manageable, therefore improving infection control.
• offer rehabilitation facilities to cats needing a bit of extra TLC.
• increase aftercare of feral cats/kittens until the time is right for rehousing.
• better facilities for pregnant and nursing mums.
“We estimate that this is going to cost in excess of £2,000, but we plan to make up the shortfall through fundraisers and holding online auctions,” added Mikey, who thanked all those who have already supported the campaign, which can be found at
