Repairs to some of Tenby’s seaside street furniture and benches is in the pipeline.
Reporting to the most recent meeting of the Town Council, Community Engagement Officer Anne Draper said that the firm Norman Industries would be fixing benches in place, but it had taken some time to co-ordinate as initially they didn’t think it could be done in situ.
“We’re pleased now that headway is being made,” she said.
County councillor for Tenby’s North Ward, Cllr Michael Williams recently called upon the town council to instigate a survey of, in the first instance of all publicly owned seating within the town walls, then obtain estimates to replace that seating with appropriate high quality seats, as well as investigating the possibility of increasing the amount of public seating available.
Cllr Williams suggested that this could be 80% funded from the Enhancing Pembrokeshire Grant scheme.
“This is a project that would be simple to carry out and would address the dire state of some of the street furniture in the town, and be a good example of what community councils can achieve,” stated Cllr Williams.
