At the recent AGM of Saundersfoot's Regency Hall management committee, Mr. Neville Boughton-Thomas was unanimously re-elected chairman, as was Mrs. Susan Boughton-Thomas as treasurer, Mr. George Cavell as vice-chairman, Mrs. Rosemary Hayes as secretary and Mrs. Vee Smith as assistant treasurer.
In his report, Mr. Boughton-Thomas stated that all the hard work required to obtain the grants necessary to re-build the hall had now come to fruition, giving a total of £1,250,000. This was made up of £500K from the Big Lottery, £250K from Planed, £200k from Pembrokeshire County Council and £300K from the Welsh government CFAP scheme. Work on the demolition and rebuild can now start on September 1.
The committee had visited various community venues which had helped them decide what new facilities and designs to incorporate into the new hall, to ensure that Saundersfoot will be very proud of its new community centre.
On August 31, there will be a fun evening of dance and music, which will be an opportunity to say good-bye to the old hall.
A new logo is needed and it was decided to hold a competition among senior pupils from Saundersfoot Community School, with the winner being asked to open the new hall. Mary Cavell and Rosemary Hayes will oversee the entries, which must be submitted by November 1, and the winner will be announced at the New Year's Day Swim.
