The weather was exceptionally kind to the organisers of Whitland Week and all the outdoor events were all very successful.

The golf tournament at Bancyfelin was a big feature of the week and was very well supported by local businesses and those funds raised cover the insurance of Parc Dr. Owen.

Mid-week, the cream teas were enjoyed by local residents in the garden at Penycoed and the transport was kindly arranged by Mr. Elfed Lewis.

Special thanks to Diane Griffiths who is the fastest cream tea maker in the west and the boys who served the tea. Also, Sue who helped to bargain for the pretty collection of tea pots at the car boot sales in advance of the event.

On Carnival Day, the procession was so long that it was head to tail around the town centre and was stopped for a few moments to squeeze together in order to proceed on to the parc.

Many commented on the community and family atmosphere and want to come again next year and join in!

Thanks go to everyone from other local towns and villages who supported the event. The Rotary Club of Narberth and Whitland took part with a float and also helped on the gate. The community police attended for the parade and local pubs and clubs were well supported long into the night.

President Mr. Keith John was a 'hands on' president and also worked behind the scenes.

The church service on Sunday was joined by members of all the churches and chapels. They each took a part in the joint service held this year at the English Congregational Chapel which recently celebrated its centenary.

The week ended with a popular quiz at the bowls club
