Sir, I don't know if anybody has noticed that the Rectory car park seems to have fallen on hard times. A few weeks ago, it had pay and display installed, a sad farewell to the men who worked there, with always a smile and a chat to the holidaymakers who parked there. But that has all gone, now there is queuing at the ticket machines as you can only use pound coins or a card for payment. If you stay for a week, would you have £40 worth of pound coins handy? What if you did not have a card? I work in a B&B next to the car park so I have seen first hand the change that has happened. Weeds growing as you enter and a lot of rubbish about the place, empty cans, broken glass, and not a bin to be seen. The men kept it clean and tidy. It seems that having extra revenue from charges and fines, as I expect a lot of people have been caught out by the daily ticket, as this does not mean 24 hours, these tickets run out at 11.59 pm (in small print on machine, hard to find). So maybe the church will look into this as it is a total mess.
Christine Clements,
