Pembrokeshire is celebrating a record number of Blue Flag Awards for its beaches.
Nine Pembrokeshire beaches, three more than last year, have been given the prestigious award which is the highest accolade of its kind in Europe.
The beaches are: Amroth, Lydstep, Newgale, Poppit, Saundersfoot, Whitesands, Tenby Castle Beach, Tenby North Beach, Tenby South Beach.
Amroth, Saundersfoot and Tenby North are the beaches to have their Blue Flag status restored.
Clr. Brian Howells, the Pembrokeshire County Council Cabinet member with responsibilities for leisure and sports, said: "This is a tremendous achievement. No other local authority in the country has won more Blue Flag awards this year than Pembrokeshire."
The awards, given by the ENCAMS, recognises only the highest standards of water quality, infrastructure and environmental management.
Pembrokeshire has also dominated a Blue Flag pilot scheme for rural beaches. All seven making the grade in Wales are in Pembrokeshire.
They are: Abereiddy, Barafundle, Broadhaven, Manorbier, Marloes, Martin's Haven and Caerfai (St. Davids).
Earlier this year, 31 Pembrokeshire beaches won Seaside Awards which allow them to fly yellow and blue flags.
