During her year of office as Mayor of Pembroke, Clr. Mrs Rose Blackburn raised £700 for two deserving local charities by organising quiz nights held at Pembroke Town Hall. Cheques for £350 were presented recently to the Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild and the Paul Sartori Foundation. On receiving the cheque, Lifeboat Guild president Rosie Allen-Mirehouse explained that the money would be put towards the £1m appeal to raise funds for a new Tamar class Angle lifeboat which will replace 'The Lady Rank'. Hospice director Lorna Johns thanked Clr. Blackburn for her hard work and said that the donation would help to provide night cover for terminally ill patients.
