Further to the report in your paper dated January 9, 2009, regarding the December meeting of Manorbier Community Council, I would wish to correct the statement in the report that I was against the 'appointment of a clerk'.
My objection was to the appointment of a 'permanent clerk' whilst the council is being taken to an employment tribunal by the previous clerk for unfair dismissal. I had no objection to the council appointing anyone on a temporary basis to the position.
The employment tribunal has taken approximately two years, which in itself must be a record, and Manorbier Community Council and councillors, I felt, were not acting in a proper manner to an employee it had dismissed.
