The South West Wales Tourism Partnership has allocated another £7,250 to Pembrokeshire Tourism to promote events in the county. The money is to be used towards promoting events that will help attract tourists into the county this autumn, or provide good reasons for them to prolong their stay. It will be allocated in sums of between £250 and £2,500, depending upon the scale of the events involved. During the past year, Pembrokeshire Tourism has allocated more than £11,000 in marketing grants to help promote popular events like the Aberjazz Festival, the Pembroke Festival, the Saundersfoot Footlights panto 2004, Pembrokeshire Fish Week and the Cleddau Waterways Festival. Said Pembrokeshire Tourism chief executive, Maureen Prentice: "We are really lucky to have so many excellent events which provide so much fun for local people. "The grant from the South West Wales Tourism Partnership, matched with Objective One European Union funding, will help promoters to market their events beyond Pembrokeshire and help bring tourists into the county out of season. "This allocation is targeted at events which will take place from September to December 2005. Another allocation will be released later in the year for Spring 2006." Applications for funding must be submitted to Pembrokeshire Tourism by Friday, June 3.
