The chairman of Tenby in Bloom has spoken of her delight at the resort being awarded an 'RHS Britain in Bloom Tourism Award' at a ceremony recently.

As well as being awarded a Silver-Gilt in the 'Coastal up to 12K' category at the annual Britain in Bloom awards for the second year running, Tenby also picked up the 'Tourism Award', which was presented to the finalist that demonstrated the most effective use of their local 'in bloom' initiatives as a means of encouraging and supporting towns in their area.

"We were absolutely thrilled and ecstatic and couldn't have been prouder of our town," Clr. Mrs. Lane told members of the town council on Tuesday night, after attending the awards presentation with her fellow councillor and Tenby in Bloom committee member, Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter, in St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland.

"It's fantastic to get these awards, everybody involved should be proud of what they have achieved for the town and a huge well done to Pembrokeshire County Council's head of maintenance, Brian Maddocks and his team for pulling out all the stops this year," she added.

Clr. Mike Evans also praised the town's success again this year in the floral contest.

"It's fabulous what has been achieved for Tenby and also great pride in the success that the Giltar Hotel has had. I think the key is in the judge's report which said that 'this is a holiday resort that has clearly benefited from the Bloom team's efforts' and that just shows that the town indeed does benefit from all the hard work and effort that is put in," he commented.

Clr. Mrs. Lane said that she would like to see some new signage introduced in the town to make reference to Teny's success in the floral contest.
