ProStock Vets staff - which has brances in both Whitland an Carmarthen left the surgery behind to tackle the Welsh 3 Peaks, raising funds for two important charities.

The determined team put on their hiking boots to raise an incredible £3,185 for Wales Air Ambulance and DPJ Foundation. The funds will be shared equally between both causes.

This year ProStock Vets are celebrating 15 years and wanted to ‘challenge themselves’, whilst raising funds for charity, so they set themselves the challenge of the Welsh 3 Peaks.

The Welsh 3 Peaks saw the team tackle the three highest peaks in Wales, Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), Cadair Idris, and Pen y Fan all in a single day.

Reflecting on why the challenge was chosen, Lee Farrar of ProStock Vets, said: “We wanted a challenge and we are a proud Welsh practice. The Welsh 3 Peaks seemed the ideal way to celebrate our 15-year anniversary and raise some sponsorship for in aid of two incredible charities who are both heavily involved in the farming and rural community in our corner of Wales.

“The Welsh 3 Peaks challenge was certainly a challenge! 17 miles were covered and we just about managed to finish in daylight, but it was a thoroughly enjoyable day of team building and I'm happy that we have been able to raise a good amount of money for these two great charities.”

ProStock Vets are no strangers to raising funds for the Wales Air Ambulance, they’ve previously donated an incredible £5,100 to the Charity through a series of different fundraising events and challenges.

Speaking of the importance of the two charities that the vets raised funds for, Lee said: “The Wales Air Ambulance is crucial to rural communities, our farming clients and the general public across Wales, providing mobile emergency care in remote locations where access to hospitals can be challenging.

“I have seen firsthand the work of the air ambulance during an on-farm incident, and it was such a huge relief to see the helicopter touch down opposite the farm, well in advance of the ground response.

“The DPJ Foundation played a huge role in mental health support for our farming clients and have provided training to us as a practice in being able to support our farmers through difficult times.”

As well as the Carmarthen branch raising funds for the Wales Air Ambulance, in 2021 vet Cath Tudor set herself her own fundraising challenge when she completed an incredible 980-mile cycle challenge from Land’s End to John O’Groats in aid of two charities.

Cath, from Carmarthenshire, raised £5,076 for the Wales Air Ambulance and £3,000 for The DPJ Foundation.
