A plan for a new school in Narberth moved a step forward this week.
Under a joint unitary development plan for Pembrokeshire, a site has now been identified and earmarked for community facilities in Narberth - the new school - county councillor David Watkins told members of the town council on Tuesday night.
"I am very pleased that an area of land for the new school has been identified and adopted by my fellow members on the county council," Clr. Watkins said.
"In the spring of this year this council will be asked for their comments on the proposals and I hope that you will give it your support."
Clr. Watkins revealed that the site was 'not far from the centre of the town', but was unable to say exactly where it was until the proposal went out for public consultation.
"It may seem slow, but the project is progressing," Clr. Watkins added.
"It is not deliberately being kept a secret, but it is a very sensitive issue and quite soon it will become public where the site is, and I hope there will not be too much controversy or objections to it."
"This is a long-awaited piece of news," commented Mayor, Clr. Sue Rees.
Clr. Watkins was thanked for all his work by Clr. Wynne Evans, and Clr. Angela Walker added: "I am very pleased progression has been made."
