St Davids RNLI crew members bravely saved a dog that went over cliffs, reuniting it with its owner after a 45-minute rescue operation.
On Tuesday, February 10, St Davids RNLI was requested to assist with the recovery of a dog that had gone over cliffs west of Porth y Rhaw.
Launching the inshore lifeboat around 9.30am, both HM Coastguard - St Davids and HM Coastguard Fishguard rescue teams were also in attendance, preparing a full cliff rescue from the coast path above.
With significant ground swell, the lifeboat got as close to shore as possible before a crew member alighted.
The dog was alive, but with the D-Class lifeboat unable to land, a throw line was used to tow the volunteer and the dog through the water.
The rescue took 45 minutes to complete.
Once safely onboard the charity’s lifeboat Marian and Alan Clayton, the dog was reunited with their owner before the volunteer crew returned to station, rehousing around 11.30am.
