Pembroke amateur drama group the East End Flyover Company looks certain to receive a standing ovation at the end of its latest production. "That's because there won't be any seats for the audience," explained Flyover stalwart Brian Rowe. "The piece we are performing - 'Lark Rise' - has been written as a promenade play, which means that everyone in the audience has to stand throughout the entire play while we perform in and around them. It should be an interesting experience for everyone." Adapted from an autobiographical novel by Flora Thompson, 'Lark Rise' recreates a day in the life of an Oxfordshire village in the late 19th century, before the rural way of life depicted was forever changed. "We have a cast of over 30, plus a nine-piece folk band, singers and even a Morris dancer," explained Brian. "It is an ambitious project, but rehearsals have been going well under director Dave McBride and musical director Helen Hodges and it is all starting to come together at the right time." 'Lark Rise' will be performed as part of the Pembroke Festival this Sunday, in Pembroke Castle marquee, and at the end of the month for three nights in Pembroke Town Hall.
