Greenhill School student Callum Proctor was recently called up to the Welsh Under 15 soccer squad that travelled to Dublin for the Tri-Nations tournament featuring Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Wales. This tournament is used as preparation for the upcoming Victory Shield games which take place in October and will be featured live on Sky Sports, who are the main sponsors for the competition. Callum featured strongly in Wales opening game against Northern Ireland, playing as a lone front man in this tough encounter which saw Wales run out 1-0 winners in an exciting and enthralling game, in which Callum went close to scoring on several occasions. After the game, Callum was singled out for praise by the ex Wrexham and Swansea City manager, Brian Flynn, the current Wales U17 manager, who was in attendance as part of his squad development programme. Wales' second game the following day against the Republic of Ireland proved to be an equally competitive match, with high quality moments throughout the 90 minutes. Callum again lined up as the focal point of the attack and delivered with two goals in the eventual 4-2 defeat, and but for a few uncharacteristic mistakes by the Welsh 'keeper the result could have been very different. The Wales management team were very encouraged by the overall performances and look forward to continuing their preparations against France in August.
