Assembly Member Simon Thomas from Plaid Cymru has highlighted the difficulty in getting a regular appointment with GPs in Pembroke, Pembroke Dock and Tenby.
Speaking during First Minister’s Questions in the National Assembly, Mid and West AM Simon Thomas said: “I’ve received a number of complaints from Pembroke, Pembroke Dock and Tenby from people having to wait a fortnight for a general appointment.
“I’ve called for steps from the Welsh Government to enhance primary care and for senior nursing practitioners to be part of GP surgeries so people can be seen quicker and easier.
“At present, Wales has a severe shortage of health professionals with one of the lowest levels of doctors per head in the European Union. A Plaid Cymru Welsh Government will train and recruit an additional 1,000 doctors to bring down waiting times for tests and GP appointments, safeguarding Withybush Hospital and its services.”
