After recently donating Dynamap mobile blood pressure monitors to the local ambulance services and Tenby Surgery, the Tenby based Caradoc James Memorial Fund has now set a target of raising £2,500 to provide equipment for the Wales Air Ambulance.
Set up in memory of Caradoc James, of Tenby, who tragically died of a congenital heart condition at the young age of 29, the fund has raised many thousands of pounds for charity over the years.
To kick-start their current campaign, they will be holding two fund-raising events over next weekend, beginning with a charity prize bingo night next Thursday.
Held at Tenby Ex-Servicemen's Club and commencing at 8 pm, with Mr. Idris Williams acting as caller, there will be over 40 prizes for lines and houses, including a Harrods hamper and various computer-type toys.
"We have a great number of prizes, a lot of which would make ideal Christmas presents for children, and adults too," explained Caradoc's mum, Mrs. Maureen Ward, who set up the fund along with other members of the family.
The bingo evening will also see the draw of the fund's grand prize raffle.
Prizes on offer include a 14-inch colour television and a children's computer, and tickets are available from the Tenby Animal Rescue Centre stall in Tenby Market.
Fund-raising will continue on Sunday (September 8) with the fund's ever-popular annual Pitch and Putt Golf Tournament.
Held once again at Heatherton, by kind permission of Mr. Charles Davies, there will be trophies and shields for novices, professionals, veterans, ladies and children.
Cost to enter is £5 and the tournament runs from 10 am to 3 pm.
"We'd like as many people as possible to come along and support us at either or both events," said Mrs. Ward.
"Many people raise funds to keep the Air Ambulance flying, but we'd rather give help in providing them with equipment they need to aid them in saving lives."
