The Welsh Government has announced that Pride organisers across Wales can apply to the Grassroots Pride Fund to help cover the costs of local Pride events across Wales held in 2026/27.
Pride events supported by the fund have grown significantly in recent years - from 6 events supported in 2022/23 to 21 last year. The fund has £69,250 available this year, up from £17,700 in 2022/23.
Several local Pride events will be taking place across Wales this month.
Deputy First Minister and Minister for Social Justice and Equalities, Sioned Williams, said: “As LGBTQ+ rights face growing threats, the new Welsh Government is clear: we will do all we can to protect and strengthen those rights here in Wales.
"Pride Month is a chance to celebrate the strength and inclusivity of our communities, and to recognise the volunteers whose commitment makes that possible. Volunteers bring people together, create spaces of welcome and belonging, and make sure LGBTQ+ people can celebrate safely and openly in their own communities.
"Respect, solidarity, and fair play are values that have always mattered to people in Wales, and this Welsh Government is steadfast in our commitment to inclusion. I am proud that we committed in our manifesto to providing ongoing support to Pride organisations."
The fund (available from June 15) is administered in partnership with Pride Cymru.

Dan Walsh, Chair of Pride Cymru, said: "Pride Cymru is delighted to support the delivery of the Pride Grassroots Fund. Local Prides play a vital role in creating safe, visible, and inclusive spaces for LGBTQ+ people across Wales. This fund represents an important investment in grassroots Pride movements, helping community-led organisations develop, grow, and deliver meaningful events and activities that reflect the needs of their local LGBTQ+ communities."
The deadline for applications is 17 August.

The role, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, will focus on deepening connections with LGBTQ+ people across Pembrokeshire, while also strengthening relationships with the wider community, local organisations and partners.
In his new role, he will lead on expanding Pride’s programme of regular activity alongside the annual Pride event, helping to create more consistent opportunities for people to connect, feel supported and be visible throughout the year.
The announcement comes at an exciting time for Pembrokeshire Pride, with plans already underway for this year’s main Pride event, taking place at Dewslake Farm on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September.
Chair of Pembrokeshire Pride, Donna Humphrey, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Jamie to the team as our new Community Liaison Officer. This role is a vital part of our vision to grow Pembrokeshire Pride into a visible, active and supportive presence throughout the year.
“We are incredibly grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund for making this role possible. Their support allows us to invest in our community, strengthen connections, and ensure that Pembrokeshire Pride continues to grow in a meaningful and sustainable way.”
Jamie Rees, Community Liaison Officer, said:“I’m incredibly excited to be stepping into this role at such an important moment for Pembrokeshire Pride. This is about building something that lives and breathes all year round, not just at one event.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting people from across the county - both within the LGBTQ+ community and the wider community - and creating more opportunities for connection, visibility and understanding. Pembrokeshire has always been home for me, and I care deeply about helping to build a county that feels welcoming, inclusive and full of pride for everyone who lives here.”
Pembrokeshire Pride is encouraging individuals, community groups and organisations to get in touch, get involved, and help shape the future of Pride in Pembrokeshire.
The team is particularly keen to hear from stallholders, food vendors and entertainers interested in being part of the main Pride weekend.
