Susan Sands is one of Pembrokeshire's most prestigious artists. Born in India, she now lives overlooking the estuary of the Upper Cleddau where she has her studio. Here she paints still-life and landscape using watercolours, acrylic, oil and gouache. She also produces woodcuts and linocuts, lithographs and collagraphs. She has exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Portrait Society, the Royal Society of Painter/Printmakers, the Whitechapel Open and is a founder member of the Greenwich Printmakers. Susan has a huge variety of approach and prefers a technique that is but suited to a particular theme. She has travelled extensively and she and her husband support a small school in Tamil Na Du, which they visit regularly. Here she can draw simple village life surrounded by children wanting to be included in the scene. Susan Sands is currently showing at the Goscar Gallery at County Clothes, 3 High Street, Tenby. The exhibition is focused on boats in Pembrokeshire and Suffolk and the flowers that follow the months of the year.
