During the benefice service at St. Mary's Church last Sunday, it was the pleasant duty of our Rector, Revd. Canon Andrew Davies, to make end of term presentation to the children of Sunday Club and also to their leaders and helpers.
Each child was given a variety of themed gifts and a colourful certificate as acknowledgements of their regular attendance at the club, held in Church House at 10 am each Sunday whilst the main service takes place in church.
The beautiful pictorial crosses which were received were made particularly special as each child's name had been carved onto the back of their cross. This lovely personalisation had been expertly completed by one of the members of the Youth Group, Thomas Griffiths.
Gifts were also presented to Jay, Katie and Heidi for the tremendous support they offer to the children, especially valued during Nan's extended absence due to ill health.
The members now look forward to their annual 'treat' which, this year, is planned to be a picnic, carriage ride and who knows what else!
Sunday Club wish to extend a friendly Christian welcome to any child of primary school age who would like to come along in September and join in with the fun and fellowship on offer. A variety of activities take place, including craft, cooking, drama, singing and lots more.
The regular summer barbecues are now being held during the day each Thursday in the church grounds, with all profits donated to local charities.
On Sunday, August 11, at 3 pm, there will be a Patronal Festival held at St. Lawrence's Church, Gumfreston, to which all are warmly invited.
