Oakwood Theme Park, launched its 'After Dark' Summer events on Friday and, for the first time ever, crowds will be entertained with live singing on the outdoor stage and a dancing water fountain display choreographed to music. Eight hand picked professional entertainers from the acclaimed Laine Theatre School and Performers College in London will be performing 'Four Decades of Hits' and 'Disco Inferno' to create a real party atmosphere in the theme park, which is extending its opening hours until 10 pm until the end of August. As well as evening performances, customers will also have the unique opportunity to experience the thrill and excitement of riding the world-class rides in the dark. Paddy McNamara, managing director at Oakwood said: "This is one of our most successful events and people keep coming back year after year for what is essentially 12 hours of fun and entertainment! As soon as darkness falls the rides are lit up to wow the crowds - it really does look spectacular. "The beauty of the event is that it is a continuation of a family day out. For those who want a break from the rides they can experience live entertainment from our professional cast who will be entertaining customers in the indoor arena where we hope to get all generations, from grandparents to toddlers, tapping their feet! And then they can head to the outdoor stage for the big finale." The cast have spent the last two weeks rehearsing their singing and dancing routines to perfection and are now ready to face the crowds. There will be a half hour performance of four 'Decades of Hits' at 6.30 pm, 7.30 pm, and 8.30 pm in the Premier Theatre, and 'Disco Inferno' will be held on the outdoor stage at 9.40 pm, featuring renditions of 'Disco Inferno' itself and 'Instant Replay'. Heather Blakeborough who is returning to perform at Oakwood for the second time, said: "After performing at the Hallowe'en show, I was desperate to be a part of After Dark. Oakwood always draws a such a great crowd that it makes performing live on stage even more enjoyable. We're really proud of the show we've created." At the end of the evening, customers will be encouraged to gather on the banks in the middle of the park for the live finale and to see Oakwood lit up with the dancing water fountains and a fabulous fireworks display.
