A RECENT presentation dinner and charity auction in aid of Leukaemia Research threw up a rather arresting sight. Christian Done, business development director of Powells Cottage Holidays, Saundersfoot, is pictured with the long arm of the law Graham Cole aka PC Tony Stamp, from ITV's The Bill.
One of the longest serving cast members of the popular television series, Graham has also been a keen charity worker for Leukaemia Research and this was no exception. Having already completed a sponsored walk of Hadrian's Wall, he also picked up the gavel to host the charity auction, the top prize being a holiday cottage provided by Powells Cottage Holidays for one week at the company's new site at Saltdene, a beautiful thatched cottage sleeping six right on the beach at Combe Martin, North Devon.
Powells involvement follows the illness of Mr. Done's sister-in-law Esther and the subsequent bone marrow transplant from his wife Sarah to her.
Christian commented: "It is always a pleasure to help with such a worthy cause and it was even more special given the recent family history. Overall I understand £7,000 has been raised and I am very pleased that the holiday proved to be so popular. Saltdene is a fantastic place to visit, so the lucky auction winner will have a wonderful time I am sure."
The company, as well as letting three cottages at Saltdene, is further expanding its North Devon operation by opening a new office in Barnstaple. If you would like to make any donations to Leukaemia Research or further information on letting your holiday cottage, contact Powells on 01834 812791.
