1st Tenby Rainbows discovered a pot of gold on their return to group sessions recently thanks to a generous donation from CK Foodstores as part of the company’s Making a Difference Locally Award.
The Tenby-based group was selected as the worthy winners of the £250 Award funding following a round of public nominations from across Wales.
Speaking of the funding, 1st Tenby Rainbows Leader, Sarah Greener said: “We are overwhelmed by the generosity and support of CK Foodstores in selecting 1st Tenby Rainbows as the recipient of the Award and we are extremely grateful to receive the funding.
“As a group run by volunteers and relying heavily on donations to support our activities, this money will make a significant difference to what we offer and will allow us to invest in new craft materials, art supplies and skills builder activity cards to develop our indoor sessions.
“It will also allow us to develop a wider range of opportunities as part of our sessions with the Rainbows group and most excitingly, will allow us to fund the Rainbows’ very first trip – something we hope will create wonderful memories that will remain with the girls for years to come.”
Commenting on behalf of CK Foodstores, Director Alun Littlejohns said: “As a Welsh company, we’re committed to supporting our local communities and our Making a Difference Locally Award is one way that we can give something back to groups and organisations across Wales.
“We received a large number of nominations for the recent Award but the 1st Tenby Rainbows entry really stood out for us as a group that is making a significant contribution to giving young girls an opportunity to develop new skills and friendships after a very challenging 18 months for many of the children who attend.”
1st Tenby Rainbows meets weekly in term time and offers girls aged 5-7 the opportunity to learn about the world around them while having fun and making new friends. More information on 1st Tenby Rainbows can be found on www.Facebook.com/1stTenbyRainbows.
