A Pembrokeshire charity is benefiting from an upgrade to its safety equipment thanks to a donation from the Port of Milford Haven.
Pembrokeshire Adventure Centre in Pembroke Dock successfully applied to the Port's Community Fund in order to purchase a new safety boat to support the centre's wide-ranging activities.
Pembrokeshire Adventure Centre is run by The Prince's Trust and all of the profits generated are used to help and support young people into training and employment. Amongst the extensive list of activities on offer are sailing, surfing, coasteering, canoeing, rock climbing and raft building; all of which are highly effective in enhancing learning outcomes and developing individual life skills such as self-confidence and team work.
Pete Ward, head of Pembrokeshire Adventure Centre, welcomed the funding saying: "This donation has helped us maintain our high standards of safety provision, supporting many of the water based activities we run on the Cleddau waterway. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Port for its continued valuable support."
Commenting on the sponsorship, the Port of Milford Haven's corporate affairs director, Mark Andrews, said: "Safety is our highest priority and we are pleased to be able to support Pembrokeshire Adventure Centre which is a valuable asset to the community. The new safety boat is a great addition to its fleet."
As a Trust Port, the Port of Milford Haven is committed to reinvesting its profits to benefit local communities. There are two levels of financial assistance available through its Community Support Programme - Level 1 provides up to £250 to community organisations for projects, events and equipment, while Level 2 offers up to £3,500 funding for a project or £1,000 for an event.
