The Port of Milford Haven has pledged its support for PATCH’s annual Christmas Toy Appeal to help ensure that no child in Pembrokeshire will go without a Christmas gift this year.
PATCH successfully applied to the Port’s Community Fund for help towards toys, festive food items and wrapping paper and received £1,000 for the project. The toy appeal is now in its sixth year and helps around 600 children in Pembrokeshire whose families are in a financial crisis and would otherwise find it difficult to celebrate Christmas.
The Port of Milford Haven is a long-standing supporter of PATCH and its staff are always keen to assist where possible. In 2014, they were voted the official Charitable Cause of the Year and received support with fundraising, volunteering, rent and profile raising.
Anna Malloy, PR and communications manager at the Port, said “The port’s Community Fund committee, membership of which is made up of staff representatives from across the business, was unanimous in supporting them and we wish them all the best with this year’s toy appeal.”
Commenting on the donation, Tracy Olin, who is the co-ordinator at PATCH, said: “This year we’re hoping to provide some more traditional toys that activate children’s imaginations and encourage outdoor play. We always have a shortfall in a particular age group so the Port’s support will make a huge difference and help us to ensure they don’t miss out. The Port also donates one of their buildings to carry out the toy sorting which we really appreciate.”
