Sir,
To the residents and visitors of Tenby town, the villages of St. Florence, Manorbeir, Jameston, Penally and New Hedges, on behalf of the Royal British Legion, we would like to say thank you; also to all businesses, organisations, hotels, pubs and clubs, shops, schools and nursing homes, for displaying the poppies and collecting donations on behalf of the Poppy Appeal 2013.
To date, over £8,662 has been raised and we envisage a higher total in coming weeks. Amounts raised, namely individual house to house collectors: Mr. Gordon Prime, president of RBL Tenby Branch £222.72; Miss M. Brown £268.36; Mrs. A. Barton £266.37. Local street collectors, the Sea Cadets, Army Cadets and the Air Training Core, raised a total of £1,554.27.
Cheques were also gratefully received from Mr. Peter Parker and various church organisations. Accordingly, special thanks to Linda Hensman and Andrew Davies of the De Valance Pavilion for issuing the poppy wreaths and collecting the cheques.
Due to current economic and financial constraints which affect everyone, the amount collected has been outstanding. Not to mention the street collectors who had to contend with the poor weather conditions!
Once again sincere thanks.
Mr. Chris Morris,
RBL branch chairman, Tenby,
Mrs Ross Morris,
Poppy Appeal Organiser.
