The annual finals night of the Narberth and District Pool League was held at the RFC last Thursday, and with an excellent turnout of supporters, a great night was enjoyed by all.

First off was last year's landlords final which had been delayed because of ill-health. The game was played in fine spirit between both landlords. The eventual winner was Keith Davies (Dragon), with a 3-1 win over John Rees (Ivy Bush).

Next up was the new competition which has proved very popular with the older players. The Over 40s proved a very tight affair between Dave Wooles (Dragon A) and Mike Neal (Jeff A), the latter winning on the last frame 3-2.

The ladies this year involved Anita Thomas (Kilgetty RAOB) and Erica Wilson (Bush Llan A). This game produced some very nervous play from two ladies, who on their night can outpot most blokes. This game could have gone either way, but eventually missed shots at crucial times gave a 3-2 win for Anita.

This year's landlords took place with good mates, Steve Lewis (Temple Bar) and Kelly Rossiter (KSSC A), and it will be remembered for Kelly missing chances in the first two frames, which cost her the match, with Steve eventually winning 3-0.

The quickest game of the night came in the Captain's Cup, where Andy Barrett (Angel Llan) had no answer to Arwyn (Mushy) Thomas (RAOB Marauders), whose potting was first class taking the match 3-0.

The triples looked to be an interesting prospect between the Dingle and Temple Bar, however the Temple Bar team of Mark, Martin and Dai made easy work of Ian, Marc and Marcus, winning the match 5-1.

In the doubles, the Temple Bar filled both spots with Andrew Rees and Meirion Rees taking on team mates Steve Lewis and Wayne John. With the games poised at two a piece it was the experienced finalists Steve and Wayne who took control to take the next two frames.

Next up, was the team knockout, and with the Dingle still annoyed about their triples match, they went into a 3-0 lead against local rivals the Dragon A. There were wins for Ian, Marc and Matthew, but the Dragon A hit back well with wins for Andrew, Paul and Colin. However, the next two doubles were a very tight affair and the Dingle finally managed to pull off the win 5-3.

Finally, in the singles, past winner Richard Lewis (Kirkland A) took on the highly rated Martin Aries (Temple Bar). After four frames the match was nicely poised at two a piece, but Martin took the next two frames with some good potting to claim his first singles title.
