A local councillor who tendered her resignation recently has been thanked for her service on the town council by her colleagues.
At Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby Town council, a letter of resignation was received by Clr. Mrs. Trisha Putwain.
“For the record the Mayor, Clr. Paul Rapi has accepted this resignation, and we would like to thank Clr. Mrs. Putwain for her years of service,” said Deputy Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, who chaired the meeting in the absence of the Mayor.
The town clerk. Mr. Andrew Davies told members that this was the second vacancy in the South Ward that had now arisen following the resignation of Clr. Hayden Johns the previous month.
“The procedure is that 10 electors in the ward concerned, in this case the South Ward, have 14 working days to petition the county council to fill the vacancy by election. If no election is requested, then the town council can fill the vacancy through co-option,” explained Mr. Davies.
