May 7 is an historic opportunity to change Wales for the better – Plaid Cymru’s leader has stated.

People can have “a government that stands up for Wales in a way that’s never been seen before” - that is the message delivered by Plaid Cymru Leader Rhun ap Iorwerth MS as he prepares to launch his party’s Senedd Elections campaign in Caerffili today (March 30).

The party will also launch their key pledges for the election at the campaign launch.

Urging voters to “choose hope” as they go to the polls on May 7, Rhun ap Iorwerth said that the election is a “straight choice between Plaid and Reform” with Labour “out of the picture.”

Ahead of launching the campaign in the constituency which Plaid Cymru won from Labour in a stunning by-election victory in October last year, Rhun ap Iorwerth MS said that Caerffili “can be a blueprint for success” in all parts of Wales, giving people the option of rejecting Reform’s chaotic, uncosted and divisive plans and uniting behind Plaid Cymru’s vision for forming a credible and compassionate government.

Speaking ahead of the campaign launch, Rhun ap Iorwerth MS said: “On May 7, people will have a historic opportunity to change Wales for the better.

“Labour’s time is up, they are now out of the picture - this campaign will be a straight choice between Plaid Cymru and Reform, between hope and division, between credibility and chaos.

“Plaid Cymru is the only party with an ambitious and deliverable plan to bring down waiting times, raise standards in our schools, introduce our universal childcare offer and give Welsh businesses the support they desperately need.

“Reform are making it up as they go along and have no interest whatsoever in doing what’s best for Wales and its communities.

Lindsay Whittle’s stunning by-election victory in Caerffili last October can be a blueprint for success in all parts of Wales - a campaign rooted in hope and tolerance offering new leadership and new ideas.

“Plaid Cymru’s message to the people of Wales on May 7 is clear - choose hope. 27 years of Labour-led rule has held Wales back. We know our nation has so much untapped potential and given the honour of leading the next government, Plaid Cymru will unleash it.

This is the most important election in the history of devolution. I urge everyone to unite behind Plaid Cymru for the chance of a government that stands up for Wales in a way that’s never been seen before,” he added.
