Tenby councillors are anxious to get the views of the town's chief of police on Pembrokeshire County Council's proposal to switch-off certain street lights overnight in areas across the county.

The town council had previously contacted the county council to raise their concerns that certain areas in Tenby that are considered to be 'non-core streets' will see lighting installations extinguished between 12 am and 5.30 am when the town is still busy, especially with late night revellers about on weekends.

The county council is currently finalising the consultation on the proposal which is being introduced in a bid to cut carbon emissions.

At a meeting of the town council on Tuesday night, members raised the issue with PCSO Mandy Goodland and explained to her that they were particularly concerned that Lower Frog Street had failed to meet the core area criteria the county council had established and were worried that no street lighting in that area would lead to issues late after midnight, as the street included two chip shops, a restaurant, kebab shop, the Crown Inn and Legion Club and also led to other core areas in the town.

PCSO Goodland told members that she would raise their concerns with Inspector Tim Hoad and report back to them
