Police are investigating a nasty unprovoked Boxing Day assault in Saundersfoot.
Sometime between 9.30 and 10 pm on Monday, December 26, two Russian males were assaulted by a group of young males who appeared to take umbrage at the fact they were not speaking English.
The incident occurred on benches overlooking the sea, near to The Strand.
"The males were with their girlfriends on the harbour wall enjoying the evening and drinking together when they were approached by a group of young men," explained a police spokesman.
"These young men began shouting at them, questioning what language they were speaking.
"When the two males tried to explain that they were Russian, they were punched and kicked to the ground."
One of the victims attempted to 'phone the police during the assault, but had his 'phone ripped from his hands.
"This attack was completely unprovoked and injuries sustained required hospital treatment," added the police officer.
The victims have only recently moved into the area for work from Birmingham.
"They are openly shocked and fearful at the hostility and hatred aimed towards them," said the police officer.
Police would like to remind members of the public that this type of unprovoked incident is unusual.
Police appeal to all persons who may have some information in relation to the assault to contact PC 635 Jo Thompson at Tenby Police Station on 101.
