In the last month, 30 people have been arrested and charged for their involvement in trafficking Class A controlled drugs into the Pembrokeshire area. Police have revealed this week that heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, MDMA powder, ecstasy and LSD with a street value of over £70,000 has been recovered. These arrests followed proactive policing initiatives involving stop checks by patrol officers and intelligence led operations between officers from Pembrokeshire and specialist resources from Headquarters at Carmarthen. In addition to these significant seizures of harmful, controlled drugs, the police also recovered over £15,000 in cash, four motor vehicles valued in excess of £35,000, and properties in Spain and other parts of the UK have been identified which are believed to be the proceeds of drug trafficking. Detective Superintendent Steve Wilkins said: "Class A Controlled Drugs are the most harmful to our communities. "This proactive activity indicates our commitment to focus our activities on those people who are involved in trafficking dangerous drugs to our communities, not only in Pembrokeshire but across other parts of the Dyfed Powys Police area. "We would like to send a clear message to those people, that we will use every legal and tactical option to bring them to justice. "We would also like to send a message to members of our community who find themselves trapped in the spiral of drug addiction that there is help for them from treatment and support agencies who are there for them. Their focus is on taking them away from the evils of dangerous controlled drugs. "You do have a choice and we, together with our partners, can assist you with making that choice and achieving a lifestyle free from drug dependency. "We wish to work in partnership with our communities in ensuring that we continue to enjoy living in an area which is one of the safest in the UK. "The information we receive from the communities often form a vital part of our investigation. "If you know someone is dealing drugs in your community, please do not ignore it. "Drugs cause misery to the lives of those they touch - you can help us take them off the streets and away from our communities. "Anyone with any information relating to the supply of controlled drugs can contact their local police station on 0845 330 2000 or can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
