Emergency service crews were called to attend a serious road traffic collision this morning which saw the A477 closed in both directions between Carmarthen and Kilgetty.

Two vehicles collided on the new by-pass between St. Clears and Llanteg, shortly before 8 am.

The air ambulance and three ambulances attended the incident, along with the police and fire brigade.

With the road expected to remain closed until early afternoon, diversions have been put in place via the A40 to the Penblewin roundabout and south through Narberth and Templeton on the A478 to Kilgetty.

A police spokesperson said: “Two vehicles were involved in the collision, a silver Mitsubishi Colt, and a white Vauxhall Vivero Van.

“Two people, in the Mitsubishi have been taken to hospital via air ambulance with what are described as serious injuries.

“Two people, from the Vauxhall, have been taken to hospital by ambulance,” they added.
