Police are appealing for help in tracing a former Tenby schoolteacher who has disappeared.

Forty-six-year-old Karen Thomas, who used to teach at Greenhill School, went missing on May 1 from her home in Bridgend where she now lives.

Her brother, ex-Welsh rugby international Robert Howley has also issued an appeal for information and says his family are 'distraught'.

He said: "Anyone out there who can help find Karen sooner rather than later should please get in touch with the police."

Karen, who works as a supply teacher in schools around Bridgend, is described as white, approximately five-feet seven-inches or five-foot eight, with short, light-brown straight hair.

She was last seen wearing a lime green hooded top, navy tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

Karen has access to a grey coloured 'W' registered Renault Scenic.

Police have said she has family in the Tenby area and believe she may be in the West Wales area.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Karen Thomas is asked to contact Bridgend CID on 01656 679518 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
