Local police are investigating a burglary at a dwelling in Saundersfoot. Sometime between December 30 and Sunday of last week, jewellery, including a gold Belcher chain with the letter J on and a gold Belcher bracelet, were stolen from a property in the Whitlow area of the village. A Black and Decker cordless drill was also taken. Said Inspector Les Clark of Tenby police station: "Dwelling burglary offences are extremely worrying and they are treated very seriously by the police service. "Each offence is investigated by a detective officer and all scenes are examined by scientific support officers." Insp. Clark also explained that Dyfed Powys Police offers a free service known as the Bobby Van scheme. "A trained carpenter will visit the homes of vulnerable members of society to check security and supply locks and chains free of charge," he said. "The service is meant for all householders who consider themselves vulnerable, either by age or single parent families, and we apply the definition of vulnerable extremely widely." Police investigating the burglary in Saundersfoot are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious, particularly after the hours of darkness, to contact them at Tenby police station on 842303.
