Local plumber Peter Kidney will be dealing with water of a different kind this weekend when he takes to the sea for a charity swim in aid of Prostate Cymru.

Peter will be attempting to swim to and then all the way around Caldey Island to raise money for the charity, setting off this Saturday (August 27) from Castle Beach at 10.30 am, where he will also end the challenge.

“I, like many men, have had Prostate Cancer, and after having an operation in February 2021 at The Heath, under surgeon Matthew Jeffries, I was back in work within 6 weeks,” said Peter.

“Thank god my wife forced me to visit the GP because of constant urinary tract infection as it quite possibly saved my life! So I am completing this swim to help raise both funds and awareness for the amazing Prostate Cymru charity.

“In order to complete the challenge I will be swimming 3 miles out from Tenby, 2 miles round the back of Caldey Island, and 3 miles back to shore, starting and finishing at Castle Beach which overlooks the Fort,” he added.
