A large stubble field at Rowston Farm, Stackpole, provided an excellent site for the range of competitive classes at the South Pembrokeshire Young Farmers and South Pembrokeshire Ploughing Society's annual event last weekend.

Held on a beautiful autumnal day, the match drew 29 ploughmen and six hedge layers and met with considerable support from the locality - probably the largest crowd for very many years.

Champion ploughman on the day was north Pembrokeshire enthusiast, Bryn Harries, competing in the classic section with his David Brown Cropmaster tractor and matching plough. The winning hedger was another highly skilled and popular local craftsman, Denny Richards, of Martletwy.
