Sir, I was very pleased to see in the report 'Bike Stands for Tenby' in last week's Observer that the TWTRA are taking a lead in encouraging the town council to progress the installation of cycle stands. Provision of cycle stands at various places will encourage not only visitors and holidaymakers, but also locals who wish to come in to town on their bikes to do some shopping. The bicycle has often been described as the perfect shopping machine, with virtually no attendant parking problems - once the proposed and long-awaited cycle stands are in place! Let's hope that the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park people will stir themselves into also actively supporting cycling as a viable and welcome alternative to the motor car for many trips.
