Sir,

May I, through the medium of your columns, appeal once again to the ever-generous folk of Tenby and district for their support during our Wings Appeal 2005, on behalf of the charitable services of the Royal Air Forces Association.

Far from decreasing, the calls on our funds from serving and ex-service RAF members and their dependants grow annually, particularly in view of the advancing ages of so many who served in 1939-1945.

Our air force continues to be engaged in active operations globally.

Sixty-five years ago the Royal Air Force stemmed the tide of horrendous aggression and it is very proper that we commemorate the efforts of those wonderful men and women who achieved victory in the Battle of Britain, ably supported by their brother services and the Merchant Navy, paving the way to victories by our forces in other theatres of war.

Wings collection days are September 16 and 17, culminating in the annual Battle of Britain Service at St. Mary's Church, Tenby, at 3 pm on Sunday, September 18 (by kind permission of the Rector, Rev. Canon David Jenkins). All are cordially welcome.

Anyone wishing to help with the collection, please contact our Wings officer, Harold James, on 01834 812897.

With very many thanks for your help in the past, may I respectfully solicit your continued support.

Wilf Hardy, President RAFA Tenby.
