RNLI crews throughout Britain are used to responding to Mayday calls, but this month we are asking everyone to respond to the Mayday fund-raising call to ensure that all our crews are kitted out in the best available gear as they continue to save lives around our coasts (writes N.E.).

In Tenby, our Mayday month begins with the annual Yellow Welly Hunt taking place throughout the town. Clue sheets can be purchased for £1 from the RNLI shop, Morris Bros and Clarice’s Toy Shop and these will help you spot the Yellow Wellies in many shop windows. Completed sheets can be handed in at the RNLI shop in return for a Yellow Welly badge. The Welly Hunt has to be completed by 2 pm on Monday, May 1, with a prize for each age group

On Saturday, bucket collectors will be around the town all day, so get your loose change ready, and there will be an ongoing raffle for an RNLI teddy bear throughout the month at the RNLI shop.

To end the month, there will be a cake stall at the Boat House on May 27, so there really is a way for everyone to contribute to the essential work carried out by our lifeboat crews. While you’re at the Boat House, pop into the shop and see our new range of souvenirs complete with the Yellow Welly logo.

For all those interested in our work, the annualgeneral meeting of the Tenby RNLI Fundraising Committee will take place at the Boat House at 3 pm on Friday, May 12.
