Sir,

May I, through the medium of your columns, once more appeal to the ever-generous folk of Tenby and district for their support of this year's Poppy Appeal collection, the proceeds of which are devoted to the welfare of needy men and women of all services and their dependants.

It is 90 years ago, on November 11, 1918, when the guns went silent at the conclusion of an horrendous war which had cost millions of lives that national remembrance of those who gave their all, and those who were wounded, was instituted with the Flanders Poppy as its symbolic emblem.

Since those days of 1918, our nation has been again involved in many conflicts (including the major World War II), our armed forces have been, and continue to be, asked to risk all in these campaigns and have not been found lacking, including those dependants who anxiously await their return.

Calls on the Royal British Legion welfare funds increase by the day - the Poppy Appeal is the lifeblood of those funds.

Please give generously and wear your poppy with pride.

Anyone who would like to help in collecting is requested to contact Clr. Sue Lane (842273).

Thank you, we will remember them.

Wilf Hardy,

President of the

Royal British Legion,

Tenby.
